9. Right to be Forgiven and Accepted
(1 John 1:9 &2:1, James 5:14-16)
Anyone who claims he does not sin any more makes God a liar (1 John 1:10).We still sin, but the beautiful thing is we have the right to be forgiven. If we sin, what we have to do is this, "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness"(1 John 1:9). This good thing about God is that if you are repentant, He will not play hard to get. In the parable of the prodigal son, God saw the son from afar and ran towards him. The work of Satan is to always make you feel guilty but the work of God is to always make you at peace. That is why we should forgive like God. But sometimes, we forgive like corrupt men; we forgive yet we do not forget. When God forgives, He throws your sins to the bottom of the ocean and He never digs up our past. In 1Corinthians13:5, love does not keep a record of wrongs. If you will confess your sins, God will forget them. Confession involves repentance. Repentance is not shedding alligator tears; but when you repent, you change your mind. In the church, sin will never take root because you will always be cleansed. So do not prolong your sin. If you have been acting irresponsibly as a Christian, stop sinning and begin walking righteously because God is always ready to accept and forgive.
10. Right to be Transformed into His Image
(2 Corinthians 3:18, 1John3:1-3, Philippians 3:21, 1Corinthians 15:49-51)
The world is destined to be destroyed and to perish including its people who keep on refusing to recognize God (1 John 2: 17, 2 Thessalonians 1:8). But for us God's children, we will all eventually be transformed and changed (1John 3:1-3). We shall be like the Lord. We will share the attributes of our God in heaven and will be like Him. This body of ours will be replaced with a body that is meant for heaven (Philippians 3:21, 1 Corinthians 15:49-51). Yet even now, God is already transforming and reshaping us to become more and more after the perfect image of His Son, Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18). That's why we live by faith and not by sight. Physically, we are wasting away but spiritually and inwardly, we are being renewed (2 Corinthians 4: 16). God's people stand 'up and claim your rights, which your Father in heaven is giving to us. Live your life victoriously and sensibly for His glory and honor!
