1. Right to be a Member of God's Family

(Ephesians 2: 12, John 1: 12, Galatians 4:4, Acts 2:47)

Prior to our conversion, we were not members of God's family or of God's nation. We were excluded and detached from the citizenship of heaven for "remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenant of the promise, without hope and without God in the world" (Ephesians 2: 12). As far as God was concerned, we were His enemies and we were separate from Christ. And tragically because of that, we were without hope and desperate. We were destined to Hell and to be condemned. But thanks be to God, when we came to know Jesus Christ as our lord and Savior,. God gave us the right to be one of His children (John 1:12). Then He also gave us every right under heaven to enrich our lives and faith. I see this truth illustrated in how the United States, considered today as the most powerful nation in the world, backs up every rights of its citizens and how the government is ready to defend the citizens with everything they got. It is more especially true with us as God's children! Romans 8:31, declares "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Imagine this: The full weight of God's government and powers are behind you. The full power of God is behind you. So whatever it is that you are going through right now, whatever storms and pressuresare squeezing the life out of you, remember that God is your Father. This is the truth that changes everything. We have a powerful God -- our Father in heaven.

2. Right to Call and To be Heard

(Galatians 4:6, Romans8:14-16, Matthew7:7-11, Isaiah 65:24, Jeremiah 33:3, Hebrews 4: 16)

When God made us His children, He gave us the 'Spirit of God', (Acts2:38). What then is the work of the Holy Spirit of God? Aside from many other things, the, number one work of the Holy Spirit is to testify that we are God's children (Romans 8:14-16). When we received the spirit of sonship, the Spirit gave us the ability to call upon God. There are many people today who are calling out to God, but He doesn't listen to all of them (Matthew 7:21). But it is different for us as God's children because when we call, He hears. He listens and this truth is enough to bring comfort to our times of troubles. Thus, we must now come before the Lord thru prayer with boldness. Prayer intensifies and reinforces our sonship. We should not wallow and drown in anxieties for why worry when, we can pray. Why allow yourself to be weakened when there is our God in heaven waiting to hear you. In Jeremiah 33:3 God says, "CaII to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
